About Us

It was never our intention to become retailers; but we couldn't stand aside when faced with the realities of what would happen to the region's whitewater community without a place to buy gear, and foster new paddlers. Backyard Boat Shop was created to continue the legacy of the whitewater state, and ensure our community continues to enjoy and protect our rivers.

While this is not how we will earn our livings, Backyard Boat Shop will still have to make ends meet.  We know paddlers have options when they choose where to buy their equipment. All we ask is that you consider what each shop's owners do for the community, and support those who are prioritizing healthy communities.
